Anand Mohan's Dehra Dun visit to be probed
Patna, Jul 12 (UNI) The Bihar government has instituted a probe into the ''mysterious'' visit of incarcerated former JD(U) MP Anand Mohan from Saharsa jail to Dehra Dun.
State Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah said here today that probe was ordered to find out the circumstances under which Mr Mohan was taken to Dehra Dun flouting all rules even after the date for his production in a local court there had lapsed.
He confirmed that Mr Mohan, who was allegedly absconding, was present in Dehradun, saying the security personnel informed that due to vacation, the accused MP could not be produced in a court there in connection with a case related to theft of electricity.
Mr Amanullah said the MP would be brought back from Dehra Dun to Saharsa jail after his production in the court.
Earlier, the government had sought a report from the District Magistrate of Saharsa Niranjan Choudhary, who stated that the former JD(U) MP was transferred to Dehra Dun without his prior permission.
He said he was kept in dark over the ''mysterious'' release of former JD(U) MP from divisional jail on July 5 for his appearance in a local court of Dehra Dun without following rules.
Mr Chaudhary said the JD(U) leader was scheduled to appear in Saharsa local court on June 29 in connection with two cases but was taken to the place after the production dates lapsed.
The jailor of Saharsa jail had been suspended in this connection.
