Agitated Shiv Sainiks and BJP take to street

Varanasi, July 12 (UNI) Agitated by the Mumbai serial blasts, Shiv Sena activists burnt Pakistan's flag and set ablaze an effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here today.

Shiv Sainiks led by divisional president Ajay Chaubey and district president Gulshan Kapoor carried out a procession from Luxa to Girjaghar crossing, where they set affire the Pakistani flag.

The saffron activists also burnt an effigy of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and PM Manmohan Singh for failing in maintaining national security.

''We blame Pakistan and the UPA government equally for the serial blasts in Mumbai that killed over 180 people and left 700 wounded.

While Pakistan, in the garb of peace, has yet again wreaked havoc with human life in India, the UPA government has failed to maintain internal security in the country,'' Mr Kapoor said.

The UPA government has failed to crack the plan of the ultras to destablise life in Mumbai by first remaining inactive on the Meenatai bust defacing issue and then failing to take timely action to prevent the serial blasts, despite possessing ample intelligence inputs about prospective terror attack, he added.

The central government, which failed to maintain internal security has no right to stay in power, Mr Kapoor maintained.

Meanwhile, BJP activists also took to streets and protested against the eight consecutive bomb blasts.
