US strongly condemns Indian bomb blasts

WASHINGTON, July 11 (Reuters) The bomb attacks in the Indian city of Mumbai were ''senseless acts of violence'' that the United States condemns in the strongest possible terms, the US State Department today said.

Spokesman Sean McCormack said the United States had been in touch with the Indian government and would provide whatever assistance requested by New Delhi.

Officials in India said the attacks on packed commuter trains and stations killed at least 135 people and injured hundreds.
