Thirty huts gutted

Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, July 11 (UNI) Thirty huts were gutted in a fire at Viswakarma colony, here today.

Police said the fire broke out in one of the huts due to an electrical short circuit and spread to nearby huts due to heavy winds. However, no no one was injured in the mishap.

Property worth Rs one lakh was destroyed in the fire.

Meanwhile, Actor-turned politician Vijayakanth, who was in Srirangam in connection with a film shooting, rushed to the spot and consoled the victims.
