Tata Power, Siemens tie up to bid for power proj

New Delhi, Jul 11: Tata Power Company today announced it has signed an agreement with Germany's Siemens Project Ventures GmbH (SPV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens Financial Services, to jointly bid for the Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPP).

As per the agreement, the two parties will co-operate in the development and implementation of the Sasan (Madhya Pradesh) and Mundra (Gujarat) projects under the UMPP initiative.

The company had recently announced signing of an agreement with international players, Siemens Power Generation of Germany and Korea's Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co Ltd to form a formidable EPC consortium.

The contract involved design and construction of power plants based on super critical technology, forming the technical basis of the company's bids for the two power projects The government has announced the implementation of several Ultra Mega Power Projects through an international competitive bidding process. Tata Power has qualified for the Sasan and Mundra projects.
