Shiv Sainiks burn Naryan Rane's effigy in HP

Hamirpur, Jul 11: A day after Maharashtra Congress leader Narayan Rane termed the desecration of late Meenatai Thackery's statue the handiwork of Shiv Sainiks, angry party activists brunt his effigy here.

Led by district President, Ajay Sondhi, the Sainiks raised anti Congress and Samajbadi Party slogans before burning his effigy at Gandhi Chowk here.

The Shiv Sainiks also handed over a memorandum to the Maharashtra Governor through Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner, demanding strict punishment to the guilty.

Alleging that the Congress and the Samajwadi Party were trying to create hatred against Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, Mr Sondhi said their ''evil designs'' would not yield any favourable results but would instead harm them in the assembly elections.

He demanded the immediate arrest of the people involved in the desecration of late Meenatai Thackery's statue.
