Ajmer, July 11 (UNI) The Union government has sanctioned Rs seven crore for the upgradation of security at Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti's dargah in view of threats of terrorist attacks on religious places.

A recent intelligence report revealed the possible threats of terrorist attacks, which has made the Central government strengthen security at the dargah which is one of the most reverred religious places for Muslims after Mecca and Medina.

According to sources, out of the Rs seven crore alloted, most of the amount will be spent to buy modern and advanced arms for security forces deployed at the dargah. A check post will also be established near the dargah.

Metal detectors and 24-hour close circuit TVs would be installed at the entrance and exit points of the dargah and the crowded lanes and bylanes surrounding the dargah.

Specially trained jawans in plain clothes would be deployed outisde the dargah.

Police sources said the security plan is being given a final shape which would be fool-proof.

The dargah diwan Saiyar Jenuwal Abidin Ali and Anjuman-the committee of dargah khadims say the dargah could become a soft target for the terrorists because of its ideal geographical location and also because thousands of people visit it every single day, making it crowded and an easy target.

Several dignitaries including prime minister, president besides politicians, celebrities, film actors and sportsmen visit the dargah for 'ziyarat'.

Recently, a suspicious woman had broken the security cordon of Bangladesh's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and perfomed ziyarat with her. The incident left the intelligence agencies squirming and looking for excuses for the security lapse.
