SC seeks appointment of sessions judge to submit report on Guj riots
New Delhi, July 11 (UNI) The Supreme Court today asked the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court to spare a Senior Additional District and Sessions Judge for four weeks from July 17, to examine whether any cases were made out for transferring the investigation into the Gujarat riots as well as trial outside the state and submit a report.
A bench comprising Justices K G Balakrishanan, Tarun Chatterjee and D K Jain also directed the state of Gujarat, the CBI and the Centre to file their response to the application seeking reopening of 1950 cases in which closure reports have been accepted by the concerned Magistrates.
The Supreme Court also fixed August 29, as the date for the next hearing of the case.
