Red alert in entire J

Srinagar, July 11 (UNI) A red alert has been sounded in entire Jammu and Kashmir following six grenade attacks in the summer capital and seven explosions in India's commercial capital Mumbai today.

Official sources said field commanders of all security agencies have been directed to be extra alert in view of emerging situation.

They said police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in strength at all sensitive places in the state.

The sources said security has been upgraded to maximum in the winter capital Jammu and areas dominated by members of minority communities in the Kashmir valley.

Tight security measures have been put in place at the Jammu railway station, Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra, Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, both Pahalgam and Batal routes leading to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath, Nunwan and Baltal base camps for pilgrims.

Additional security forces have been rushed to all senstive areas of the state. Security personnel took no chance as they were seen frisking even pilgrims and tourists at many places in Srinagar.
