Prime Minister leaves after day's visit to Kolkata
Kolkata, July 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left for Delhi this evening after a day's visit to the city.
Dr Singh was seen off at the airport by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Congress leaders Soumen Mitra and Manas Bhuniya.
After his arrival at around 1045 hrs, the Prime Minister left for the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics at Salt Lake, where he laid the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Science and Research. Later he met veteran CPI(M) leader and former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu at his residence.
Dr Singh also met the Governor and the Chief Minister separately at the Raj Bhavan.
He met delegations of Congressmen and CITU before leaving the city.
