POSCO India conducts Cleft lip, Palate Surgery free of cost

Jagatsinghpur, Jul 10 (UNI) The POSCO-India today conducted a cleft lip surgery and palate correction camp here for identified patients of Jagatsinghpur district where it proposed to set up a 12 MTPA Steel Plant with an investment of Rs 51,000 crores, the largest FDI in the country.

Observing that the cleft lip is a widespread problem amongst the local people, the South Korea Steel major brought specialized medical and surgical assistance for the treatment of the local of the locals.

The camp was held at Jagatsinghpur Headquarters hospital in close association with the S C B Medical College and Hospital and the District Health Department. The surgeries, however, would be carried out in SCB Medical College, Cuttack, from tomorrow.

The programme will continue till July 13 and all medical assistance would be provided by POSCO-India free of cost to the patients.

This initiative will cover eight villages of Dhinkia, Govindpur, Nuagaon, Polang, Noliasahi, Bayanala Kandha, Bhuyanpal, Jatadhari from the Gram Panchayats of Dhinkia, Nuagaon and Gada Kujang from Erasama block of Jagatsinghpur sub-division coming under the POSCO-India's proposed plant area.

The camp was organised with the expertise of a specialized 13-member team comprising of medical professors from the Dental Department of Seoul National University (SNU). The team is led by the renowned Prof.Dr. Pill-Hoon Choung, Dean Dental Department,SNU POSCO-India Chairman cum Managing Director Soung-Sik Cho said the Company was committed to working towards the welfare of the people of Orissa.
