Pondy CM calls for alleviation of poverty, illiteracy

Pondicherry, July 11 (UNI) Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today called for total eradication of poverty and illiteracy, since women and children were the maximum victims of these evils.

Inaugurating a four-day workshop on 'Project Design' organised by the Tamil Nadu Social Service Society to prevent traffiking in women and children here, he said voluntary organisations had to play a key role to supplement the efforts of the Government in preventing such menace.

Mr Rangasamy said Pondicherry was marching ahead in providing ideal health service and also in enhancing literacy status of the people.

About 30 representatives from different organisations had participated in the workshop.
