Pakistan demands release of Pak prisoners in Bengal
Barrackpore, July 11 (UNI) A Pakistan High Commission team visited the Dumdum Central Jail in North 24 Parganas to meet Pakistani prisoners for the second day today.
Official sources said the two-member team, accompanied by an officer of the Ministry of External Affairs, interviewed the only woman prisoner of that country Mumtaz Begum, who was brought here from Alipore Central Jail.
The Pak team, comprising Md Rafiq and M Ahmed Khan, had already interviewed Mohammad Arif, a Pakistani prisoner yesterday, who has been in the jail since October last.
Meanwhile, Pakistan demanded Arif's release under prisoners' exchange programme taken up by the two countries. Arif's name was included as a civilian prisoner in the 30-member list that was forwarded by the Pakistan authorities to the Ministry of External Affairs.
