One drowned in boat mishap

Morena, MP, July 11 (UNI) At least one person died and two people were feared drowned when a boat capsized in the Chambal river in Morena district today, police said.

However, villagers said at least five-six people were feared drowned.

Some passengers told UNI that the vessel was conveying more than 18 passengers. Most of them were going to celebrate Guru Poornima at Genda Baba ashram in Rajasthan. Local divers rescued some passengers, while some managed to swim to safety.

The body of Dheeraj Gurjar was fishe out, police said.

Expert divers from Border Security Force, Tekanpur, had been called to search for missing passengers.

The district administration announced ex-gratia of Rs 10,000 for the family members of the deceased.
