One dies in flood at Birbhum

Darpasila, Jul 11 (UNI) A 33-year-old man was swept away by flood water here in Birbhum district today.

Swapan Thakur drowned following overflowing of the rain-fed Kopai river. His body was recovered 10 kms away at Adityapur village.

Meanwhile, nine gram panchayats in Labpur block have been submerged following heavy rains destroying agricultural land.

Sub-Divisional Officer of Bolpur Tarun Kanti Singha Roy said a team had been sent to take stock of the situation.
