Hyderabad, Jul 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Government Chief Whip Kiran Kumar Reddy today challenged that by 2009 Assembly polls in the state, the Congress would capture Kuppam Assembly seat now occupied by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu.

Speaking to newsmen here, Mr Reddy said Mr Naidu was defeated badly in the recent local body polls in his home district Chittoor.

The Congress could win 75 per cent seats in Chittoor ZP polls.

''Of the 65 ZP seats, the Congress won 49 and the TDP 16. Out of the 16 won by the TDP, the Congress lost seven due to internal differences,'' he added.

Mr Reddy said the Congress was all set to capture the Kuppam Assembly constituency by 2009 Assembly elections and Mr Naidu would have to search for a new district and constituency from where he could win.

''There is no hope for him in Chittoor District,'' he asserted.

Mr Reddy said owing responsibility for the party's consecutive debacle in Assembly, MP, municipal and local body elections, Mr Naidu should resign as Party President as he miserably failed to improve the TDP's performance even in his native place.

''In fact, Mr Naidu should himself step down from his post for the failure'', he suggested even as he took strong objection to the TDP chief criticising State Election Commissioner A V S Reddy, an officer known for his honesty and integrity.
