Mangat exhorts for exploiting tourism potential of Bani

Jammu, July 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Transport Mangat Ram Sharma today said with the creation of Lakhanpur-Bani-Sarthal Tourism Development Authority, the area would not only attract tourists but also achieve exploitation of its horticulture potential.

Adressing a public meeting at Bani, Mr Sharma, referring to the scenic splendors of Sarthal and Dhaggar valley, said these places are at par with Pahalgam and Gulmarg and would attract national and international tourists when developed.

Pointing to the Horticulture potential in the area, which has already been exploited up to some extent, he said horticulture capability needs to be explored further for the benefit of farmers and it will further add its contributions to the national fruit market.

Mr Sharma said the Government is planning to provide all the barren forestland to the un-employment youth so that they could develop their orchards on it for the purpose of starting their own employment ventures. He also announced the development of a model horticulture project at Manjhiri (Bani).
