Man burns two-yr-old daughter with cigreatte flakes

Bhadearwah, July, 11 (UNI) A man inflicted serious injuries to his two-year-old daughter by burning her with cigarette flakes in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The accused, Ikhlaq Ahmed Khan, allegedly took his daughter, Janu, outside the house at around 2230 hrs yesterday and told his wife that he will make her eat bananas. Hearing her daughter crying, the mother rushed out to find her husband burning the face, neck, arms and other parts of the baby with cigarette flakes.

The mother rescued her daughter and took her immediately to a sub-divisional hospital here. The accused was arrested and a case registered against him under section 324 of the RPC.

The accused is a resident of Baramullah and he had come here three months back with his maternal aunt whom he had allegedly abducted. A case was already pending against him at the Baramulla police station for abducting his aunt, Rukhsana. The police contacted their counterparts in Baramulla from where a team has left for Bhadearwah to arrest him in connection with the abduction case.
