Lalu Prasad condemns blasts, assures all help

New Delhi, Jul 11 (UNI) Describing the massive serial train blasts in Mumbai as ''tragic and dastardly'', Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today assured that his ministry would launch all possible relief operations to mitigate the sufferings of the victims.

Before his departure for Mumbai along with his deputy Naranbhai J. Rathwa, Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Railway Board Chairman J P Batra, Mr Prasad said several people had lost their lives in the ''horrendous'' serial blasts.

''This is a moment of great sorrow and utter tragedy. We are prepared for the challenge. My ministry is fully geared towards providing relief to the victims,'' he said.

He also lauded the exemplary efforts of the people of Mumbai in providing relief to the victims and rescuing some of the commuters.

Mr A K Suri, Director General, Railway Protection Force (RPF), is also part of the high-level team that left for Mumbai.
