Guruvayoor, July 11 (UNI) Kerala Devaswom Minister G Sudhakaran today said the government proposed to start temple-tourism connecting all the temples in the state.

Talking to reporters here, he said the project would be carried out without affecting the sanctity of the worshipping places.

He said the project would be carried out with the cooperation of the Tourism Department and a detailed dicussion in this regard would be held soon.

Regarding the Guruvayoor Master Plan, Mr Sudhakaran said the Government had not received any project in this regard, though the previous Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) had said of such a project.

The project was to be prepared by the Guruvayoor Municipality and the Guruvayoor Devaswom Board, he said and added that both of them should cooperate to prepare the project.

Earlier inaugurating the ''sukha chikilsa'' for Guruvayoor Sreekrishna temple elephants at Punnathur Kotta, near here, he stressed the need for developing the elephant santuary into a National tourist attraction. The Punnathur Kotta elephant santuary should be made a national tourist destination with the fund alloted by the centre, he added.

The Devaswom Minister said if the rules permitted the government would accept surplus funds from the Devaswom Boards for developmental works, he added.
