JD(U) calls on Munda

Ranchi, Jul 11 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today assured the JD(U), an ally in the BJP-led NDA government, of addressing their grievances following the speaker-home minister brawl.

The assurance emerged during a meeting between Mr Munda and JD(U) president and PHED Minister Jaleswar Mahto here.

However, party sources said they did not discuss the matter regarding speaker Inder Singh Namdhari, one of six JD (U) MLAs and Home Minister Sudesh Mahto, one of five independent members also supporting the government.

The JD (U) state president told UNI that all points raised by them were heard by the Chief Minister adding their demand to appoint Mr Kameswar Nath Das, a party MLA, as president of SC/ST development board was also taken into consideration.

Recently the Speaker's allegation saying that the home minister was protecting criminals triggered a political crisis in the state.

Both the allies threatened to withdraw support and urged the Chief Minister to tackle the issue.
