High alert sounded in AP

Hyderabad, July 11 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh police a sounded high alert in the state in the wake of the serial blasts in Mumbai today.

Director-General of Police Swaranjit Sen today called up Mumbai Police Commissioner and took stock of the situation. Later, the DGP alerted all the district Superintendents of Police and Commissioners in the state to be alert over the situation. Mr Sen also alerted the railway Superintendents of police.

Police sources said that inspections had been taken up in the railway stations, bus stops and important government offices and sensitive installations in the state. The security was beefed up at main places of worship like Tirupathi.

The police are keeping a strict vigil at all entry and exit posts in the state, especially in the border districts of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh vehicles are checked.

City police Commissioner Umesh Sharaff said the police personnel were alerted to keep utmost vigil with hightened security measures at sensitive places.
