HC drops contempt proceedings against HP chief secretary

Shimla, July 11 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court today dropped contempt proceedings against the state chief secretary for delay on part of the government to provide pool vehicle and accommodation to judicial officers at district headquarters and sub divisional level in the state.

The court, in its order, dropped the contempt proceedings against the chief secretary after he submitted a ''clarificatory affidavit'' in the court here.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice V K Gupta and Justice Sujit Singh expressed satisfaction over the affidavit filed by the chief secretary and dropped the proceedings.

The state judicial officers' association had moved the court, seeking implementation of the Supreme Court judgment in the All India Judges' Case.

The court had earlier in its March 20 order this year held that it was a ''constitutional mandate'' on part of the government to provide pool vehicle and accommodation to the judicial officers.
