Govt to speed up allotment of land to landless
Guwahati, July 11 (UNI) Asom Revenue Minister Bhumidhar Barman today assured the Assembly that the government has decided to accelerate allotment of land to the landless.
Replying to a question, he said during the last five years, the government had allotted lands to 20,276 persons despite its assurance of allotting land to one lakh people.
He said the figure did not include the two hill districts and Bodoland Territorial Council.
He informed that land was being allotted on proposals of the advisory committee as well as directly as per merit. He also assured the House that if any anomaly was detected in allotment, he was prepared to take action against the guilty officials.
