Governor, CM condemn grenade blasts in Srinagar
Srinagar, July 11: Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt General (rtd) S K Sinha, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and other political, religious, social and traders associated with the tourist trade have strongly condemned the series of grenade blast in the city in which seven people were killed and 33 injured today.
Expressing profound shock over the killing of tourists, General Sinha said this barbaric act vitiates Kashmir's glorious traditions and is an attack on the economy of the Valley.
Anguish over the spurt in terror attacks on tourists, innocent civilians and political activists, General Sinha described the attack as a handiwork of those who are hellbent on shattering the economy of the Valley that has shown signs of improvement with ever increasing rush of tourists.
''Such acts should be condemned by those protesting against human rights violations,'' General Sinha said and hoped that the people of Kashmir will unitedly stand against the violence unleashed by militants.
The Governor conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished early recovery to the injured.
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said those responsible for these blasts belong to no religion or region. They are the enemies of humanity, he said, adding such attack will not stop people from moving forward to restore total peace in the state.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a partner in the coalition government in the state, has also condemned violent attacks in Srinagar claiming innocent human lives and leaving scores of others injured.
