Flash flood in Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur, Jul 11 (UNI) Around 80 villages of Bhagalpur district were submerged as flash flood hit the area following breaches in embankment of Chandan river this morning.

Sub-divisional officer Dhananjay Thakur said the affected villages were under the jurisdiction of Jagdishpur, Gauradih, Sabour, Sonaula and Kahalgaon blocks.

Traffic was disrupted along NH-80 and 81 as several stretches of the road were inundated.

He said relief and rescue operations were being carried out in the affected area to provide succour to the victims. Arrangements had been made to evacuate people from low lying areas, he added.
