Five killed, 12 injured in Srinagar grenade blast
Srinagar, July 11 (UNI) At least five tourists, including three women, were killed and 12 others injured in a grenade blast at Dalgate today, official sources said.
They said militants hurled a hand grenade towards a tourist tempo at Badyari crossing on the bank of the Dal Lake.
Initial reports said the grenade exploded inside the vehicle causing the death of three tourists on the spot and injuries to 12 others. Two people succumbed to injuries at a hospital.
All the deceased hailed from West Bengal.
This was the fourth attack on tourists in Srinagar during the tourist season.
Four tourists from Gujarat were killed and several others wounded in a grenade blast at Zakura while one tourist from Madhya Pradesh was killed in a similar attack at Soura in May. About 20 tourists from West Bengal were injured in two grenade attacks at Dalgate.
