Father sacrifices son to get divine power for Sorcery

Bhubaneswar, July 11 (UNI) In a shocking incident a father sacrificed his eight-year-old son inside a deep forest and later cut his body into pieces and buried it in a dry pond.

The man, who was later arrested by the police, had confessed to the crime. Police also recovered the sword and retrieved the mutilated body of his son.

Kandhmal Superintendent of Police Basant Kumar Sahu said one Kanhu Charan Pradhan of Karumaha village under Daringibadi police station took, Suratha, his third son, to a nearby jungle last Saturday and sacrificed him before the deity in order to ''fulfil a divine order.'' On a complaint lodged by Pradhan's wife Minati, the police arrested him from the jungle.On interrogation he confessed to the crime. The police later recovered the body and the weapon used in the crime. Further investigations in the case were on.
