Eight political parties to form Third Front in Andamans

Port Blair, Jul 11 (UNI) Eight national political parties have decided to form a Third Front in Andaman and Nicobar islands, and call it the Andaman&Nicobar Left&Democratic Front.

Parties in the alliance include the AIADMK, BSP, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML), DMK, JMM and RJD.

The formal launching of the Third Front would take place soon, K G Das, Secretary of CPI(M)'s State Organizing Committee, said.

Mr Das told UNI that all these eight parties have some common demands and agendas, which would be pressed regularly for the benefit of island's inhabitants.

In a recent memorandum, submitted to the Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar islands, these parties had demanded for according statehood and setting up of Legislature for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, inclusion of left out categories in the OBC and identification of SC/ST in Andaman and Nicobar islands, stalling influx of population from mainland they also alleged recruitment of candidates from mainland for the government jobs in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
