Saharsa, Bihar, July 11 (UNI) District Magistrate of Saharsa Niranjan Choudhary today claimed that he was kept in dark over the 'mysterious' release of former JD(U) MP Anand Mohan Singh from divisional jail on July 5 for his appearance in a local court of Dehra Dun without following rules.

Mr Chaudhary here said he had submitted his inquiry report to the state government on the alleged unlawful release of the JD(U) MP. He said jail authorities and the police administration did not bother to inform him before releasing Mr Singh.

Mr Chaudhary said the JD(U) leader was scheduled to appear in Saharsa local court on June 29 in connection with two cases. He said Mr Singh was released on July 5 after receipt of production warrant of a local court of Dehra Dun for his appearance there on June 29 had already lapsed.

He said he had recommended disciplinary action against magistrate Srikant Diwedi who was Jail Superintendent (in-charge) of Saharsa Jail during release of the JD(U) leader while the jailor was placed under suspension over the issue.
