Ranchi, Jul 11 (UNI) A special court hearing the Rs 950-crore fodder scam today reprimanded the CBI for slow progress in investigation in presence of high profile accused in the scam Railway Minister Lalu Prasad here.

Mr Prasad personally appeared before the special court of S N Prasad where the regular case number 47/96 relating to illegal siphoning out of Rs 182 crore from Doranda treasury office came up for hearing.

During the hearing, a visibly worried Lalu sat mutely for about 20 minutes as the court expressing annoyance asked the CBI counsel why only fewer than 100 out of about 1000 witnesses' statement were recorded so far in the particular case.

''So slow progress will not do,'' the judge observed.

Recently, CBI director Vijay Shankar had to personally appear before Jharkhand High Court, monitoring all cases relating to the scam, and allayed apprehension of the court that investigation concerning big shots in the scam was slow.

The CBI director, while refusing to give any specific timeframe for disposal of the cases, however, said it would try to complete the job as soon as possible.

The CBI also said it was treating all cases in the scam equally.

In the RC 47/96, about 200 people had been accused, including Mr Prasad and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra.
