Court restrains Baselius Marthoma Didimos I from calling meeting

Kochi, Jul 11(UNI) The Ernakulam Addl Munsiff Court today restrained Baselius Marthoma Didimos I, Catholicos of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, from convening any meeting of the Malankara Association managing committee, working committee and Holy Synod till July 19.

The munsiff issued the interim order on a writ suit filed by Babu Paulose of Chethicode, alleging that Baselius Marthoma Didimos I has not been elected either as Metropolitan or Catholicos of the Malankara Church in term of the 1934 constitution of Malankara Association and therefore he is not entitled to convene a meeting.

The munsiff has ordered urgent notice in the matter to Baselius Marthoma Didimos I, Thomas Mar Athanasous, metropolitan secretary of Episcopal Synod, and Prof Alexandar Kallarakkal, secretary Malankara Association.
