Central Bank branches observe one day token strike in protest

Kolkata, July 11 (UNI) All branches of public sector Central Bank of India throughout the country, including about 120 in West Bengal, remained closed today protesting the alleged ''atrocious behaviour'' of its top management.

Describing the strike as ''total and successful'', Central Bank of India Employees' Association General Secretary Mridul Kanti Das in a statement here tonight claimed that more than 35,000 employees of the bank across the country participated in today's strike.

Expressing regret for any possible inconvenience to Central Bank customers for the strike, Mr Das cautioned that if the management failed to take any corrective measure within a timeframe, they might resort to more intensive nationwide agitation.
