BJP opposed to ropeway
Rajahmundry, July 11 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Andhra Pradesh Unit Secretary and State Membership Enrolment Campaign Incharge Mr N V S S Prabhakar today expressed opposition to the rope way from Alipiri Hills to Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, as it was a sacred pilgrim centre and not a tourist spot.
Addressing presspersons here, he said a pilgrim Centre cannot be made into a tourist Centre.
Even the "Agama Sastras" would not accept the mechanisation.
Pilgrims would face lot of problems if the ropeway is introduced.
He also demanded that the State Government must inquire into the corruption in the construction of guest houses by TTD.
He also comedown hevily on the campaign and preaching of a particular religion in and around Tirupati. He alleged that the Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalaya Vice-Chancellor had removed the pictures of Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Padmavathi in the campus and put up the photo of the pope.
Funds meant for development of Tirumala, Bhadrachalam and Simhachalam were being diverted, he alleged.
