Hyderabad, Jul 11 (UNI) Former Union Minister and BJP leader Vidyasagar Rao today said his party strongly condemned the defections in political parties.

Talking to newspersons here, he said all parties should come to an understanding and discuss measures to stop defections.

Referring to the election of Chairman and Vice-chairman posts for Zilla Parishad(ZP) in Anantapur district yesterday, where two Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency(ZPTC) members of the Opposition Telugu Desam Party(TDP) had supported the ruling Congress party, Mr Rao said defections in the history of AP politics were not new.

Earlier also, defections had taken place in the elections.

He said all political parties should discuss this issue and take a decision instead of raising voice on the errors in the voters lists and other election related-matters.

Admitting that there were lapses in the voters' list, he said steps should be taken to correct the mistakes to avoid recurrence in future.

He urged Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhara Reddy to call an all-party meeting to discuss in detail the issue of defections.
