ATTF's raising day observation peaceful

Agartala, Jul 11 (UNI) The raising day of the underground outfit All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) has passed off peacefully so far with no reports of violence from any part of the state today.

According to police here, normal activities in mixed-populated and tribal-dominated areas remained unaffected, while the security forces maintained a close watch on the situation in view of today's raising day observation call given by the ATTF.

It might be noted that the security measuress had been beefed up by the security forces to meet any kind of eventuality by the militant outfit.

All the police stations and outposts in the extremist-dominated areas of the state were placed under high alert. Security measures had also been tightened on all the important roads, including the National Highway No 44, passing through most of the extremist- dominated areas of the state. Vehicular movement was also reported to be normal.

The security forces had launched massive anti-insurgency operations in the remote areas to flush out the militants keeping in mind today's raising day observation by the ATTF.

The outfit observed July 11 every year as raising day but for the past few years there were no reports of any violence due to the alertness of the security forces, the sources added.
