Assam thrash Gujarat girls 28-0 in junior nationals
Chandigarh, July 11 (UNI) It rained goals as Assam hammered Gujarat 28-0 in a cluster H qualifying league match in the Junior Girls Under-17 National Football Championship at the Punjab Engineering College Campus here today.
Assam captain Purnima Das accounted for 14 goals including a hat-trick, while Mithila Bhumik scored seven.
In contrast, Uttar Pradesh toiled hard to overcome a spirited challenge of hosts Chandigarh in cluster G. Propped up by a brace by Pinky Sharma (8th and 52nd minutes), Uttar Pradesh won 2-1.
Earlier, title aspirants West Bengal rained goals against Rajasthan to record a fabulous 16-0 victory in Cluster E. Tripura, propped up by a fine hat-trick by Shyamali Debbarma, mauled Delhi by a dozen goals (12-0) in a cluster F fixture.
