AIADMK-led DPA cadres stage demo for upgradation of hospital

Tiruchirapalli, July 11 (UNI) More than 1,000 workers, including 150 women of the AIADMK-led Democratic People Alliance staged a demonstration in front of the District Collectorate here, demanding the upgradation of Dr K A P Viswanathan Government Medical Hospital on par with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

Leaders and workers of AIADMK and its allies the Marumalarchi DMK, Dalit Panthers of India, Janata Dal (Secular), Indian National League, Indian Union Muslim League(TN), Moovendra Munnetra Kazhagam and the Social Justice Party participated in the demonstration.

The demonstrators criticised the Centre, Union Health Minister Anbumina Ramadoss and DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for shifting the upgradation proposal to Salem Government Hospital, instead of Dr K A P Viswanathan Government Hospital, Tiruchirapalli.
