12 quintal poppy husk seized

Sangrur July 11 (UNI) Police have arrested four persons for possessing 35 bags of poppy husk weighing 12 quintals, near Changal village here.

Acting on a tip-off that a truck carrying poppy husk will be passing through the Hereri road here, the police team headed by DSP Gursharan Singh Bedi, erected a 'Naka' near the village and recovered the poppy husk, police said yesterday.

Police arrested four persons -- Lakha Singh, Nek Singh and Babbi, all residents of Sunam in Sangrur district and Subash, resident of Rajpura Road, Patiala.

A case has been registered under section 15 of NDPS Act and the truck has been seized.
