Italy's World Cup heroes return home
ROME, July 10: Italy's World Cup soccer team returned home today as an entire nation prepared to give them a triumphant heroes' welcome.
The plane carrying the team from Germany landed at Pratica di Mare, a military airport on the coast just south of the capital.
The team was due to make its way to Rome to be feted by President Giorgio Napolitano and Prime Minister Romano Prodi before being hailed by tens of thousands of fans at the Circus Maximus, once the scene of Roman chariot races.
