3 killed, 23 injured in building collapse

Mumbai, Jul 9: Three people, including a minor girl and a woman, were killed and 23 others injured when a two-storeyed building collapsed and fell on the four squatting houses adjoining it in suburban Bandra here today.

Police said the building, owned by Abdul Idrisi, fell on the four surrounding squatting houses, trapping 25 to 30 people inside those houses. Among the trapped were mostly women and children.

Fire brigade personnel successfully removed 26 people out of the rubble and later shifted them to the nearby Bhabha hospital, where three succumbed to their injuries. The deceased have not been identified as yet. However, among the three are a three-and-a-half-year-old girl, a woman and a man, police added.
