Ahmedabad, July 10 (UNI) A metropolitan court today ordered a ten-day police remand for the former personal assistant to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad who was arrested last night in the murder case of US-based NRI Pankaj Trivedi.
The accused Ghanshyam Chudasama is the sixth person to be arrested in the case. Police had last week nabbed five members of the Swadhaya Parivar from Saurashtra. The other five also got ten-day remand which ends on July 15.
Chudasama (31), and a staunch follower of the Swadhyay Parivar, has been charged with conspiracy and being part of the group which plotted to kill Trivedi, Deputy Commissioner of Police A K Jadeja said.
He has been also accused of leaking crucial information regarding the progress of the investigation in the murder case, he said.
Trivedi was clubbed to death on June 15 near a posh club in the heart of the city. He had reportedly irked some Swadhyay members after he raised queries about alleged financial irregularities and misappropriation of NRI funds which the Parivar had recieved for post-quake rehabilitation.
