Suzlon to develop Rs 1000 cr windmill project
Uchila (Karnataka), Jul10: Suzlon, a multinational company, is planning to set up a windmill manufacturing unit near Padubidre in Udupi district at a cost of Rs 1000 crore, its Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh chief V S Pandya said.
Giving the project details at a meeting here, he said the project would be completed in five years' time.
Allaying fears in the minds of the localites and environmentalists, he said the proposed unit was not a power generating unit, but only a windmill manufacturing unit. Once completed, the unit would provide employment to 1000 local youths, he said yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Medical Education and District Incharge Minister V S Acharya said Suzlon was a 100 per cent export-oriented India based MNC.
Dr Acharya, Ms Manorama Madhwaraj, MP, government officials and others took part in the meeting.
