Shiv Sena, BJP activists call bandh in Jalna

Jalgaon, July 10 (UNI) The activists of the Shiv Sena and its ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today called bandh here in protest against the desecration of the statue of Meenatai Thackeray, the wife of Sena chief Bal Thackeray, in Mumbai yesterday.

All commercial establishments were closed. At some places, the stone-pelting incidents were also reported. At about 1400 hrs, a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus which was entering the city, became the target of one group of youths, who threw stons at it and tried to burn it by pouring petrol on it. But their bid was unsuccessful, with the police arresting seven persons in this connection. An offence has been registered against them by the Jilha Peth police station this evening.
