Sensex opens in red, recovers losses soon
Mumbai, July 10 (UNI) The BSE Sensex today opened in the red by 25 points at 10,484.25, as the midcap and smallcap sectoral indices declined in the opening move.
However, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) soon recovered the losses and touched a morning high of 10,622.94 points.
The BSE sectoral indices were equally divided into the positives and the negatives. The midcap and smallcap scrips were down by 0.57 and 0.47 per cent, wheras IT and oil and gas sectors were up by 2.3 and 1.06 per cent.
Major gainers on the index were - TCS, HDFC, Bharti Tele, Satyam, WIpro, and Infosys, all up between 2.00 to 2.80 per cent.
Besides, the losers were - ICICI, HLL, ITC, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, Reliance Energy, and Bajaj Auto, all down between 0.27 to 2.38 per cent.
