SC stays proceedings against Neera Yadav in land scandal
New Delhi, July 10 (UNI) The Supreme Court today stayed criminal proceedings pending against Uttar Pradesh Revenue Board chairperson Neera Yadav for her alleged involvement in land allotment scandal in Noida during her tenure as chairperson of the Noida Development Authority.
Former chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Ms Yadav had challenged the Allahabad High Court order dismissing her petition challenging her prosecution last year.
Counsel for the petitioner pleaded before the bench comprising Justices K G Balakrishnan and D K Jain that the CBI should have obtained the sanction for her prosecution from the state government also as she was a senior bureaucrat of the state government.
The court also issued notices to the CBI on Ms Yadav's petition seeking directions from the court for quashing the proceedings pending against her in Uttar Pradesh.
