PM calls on Kalam; discusses G8, monsoon session

New Delhi, Jul 10: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today called on President A P J Abdul Kalam and discussed the G8 summit and the monsoon session of Parliament.

During the 35-minute meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Dr Singh apprised the President of his forthcoming visit to St Petersburg, Russia, to attend the July 15-17 G8 summit of industrialised nations.

A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said the Prime Minister also briefed Dr Kalam on the monsoon session of Parliament to be held from July 24 to August 30.

The meeting was part of the regular interactions between the two leaders, an official statement said.
