PIL against 11 IAS officers: UP's counter affidavit by Aug 7
Lucknow, July 10 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh government to file a counter affidavit in a PIL against 11 Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers of UP cadre.
The Lucknow division bench also fixed August 7 as the next date of hearing the case.
A local journalist Jagdish Narain Shukla had filed the PIL demanding a CBI probe against 11 IAS officers -- Rakesh Bahadur, Sanjiv Saran, S V S Saxena, V K Varshnay, Tulsi Gaud, Lalit Verma, M A Khan, Sunanda Prasad, Arvind Mohan, P L Punia and Gangadin Yadav -- and their removal from important government posts during the inquiry period.
The petitioner claimed several inquiries including by vigilance department and economic offences wing (EOW) had been conducted against these officers and they had even been chargesheeted.
The PIL makes centre, UP govenment, home secretary, secretary appointments, CBI director, chief commissioner income tax etc as respondents.
