Online counselling; about two lakh options registerd on day one

Thiruvananthapuram, July 10 (UNI) The online counselling for admissions to the professional colleges in Kerala, the first of its kind in the country, began today even as the college managements are gearing up for a legal battle with the government on the new Self- Financing Professional Colleges Act.

The students started registering their option through the website and the candidates who did not have access to Internet facility were seen at information, guidance and option facilitation centres set up across the state.

About two lakh options were registered today itself, sources said and added that no problem was reported from any of the centres.

The government has set up 31 information, guidance and option facilitation centres. The candidates can also register their options at the designated branches of Canara Bank.

Three helplines have been opened at the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Exams.

The candidates can register their options till July 19.
