NDA govt failed to meet people's expectation : Congress
Patna, July 10 (UNI) Bihar Congress today staged demonstrations at all district headquarters to highlight the NDA government's failure to meet people's expectation.
Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee President Sadanand Singh told mediapersons here that state government was not able to accelerate the pace of development despite adequate fiscal support from the Centre.
Mr Singh said there was lack of technical manpower to execute various development programmes in the state and no concrete steps had yet been taken to recruit technocrats for supervision of the ongoing projects.
''Bihar government has not rectified the shortcomings in the state administration which was the main reason behind the poor law and order situation,''he maintained.
Mr Singh said Rs 400 crores for Indira Awas Yojna, Rs 300 crore for police modernisation and Rs 29 crores for Ganga Bridge were lying unspent and alleged that the state machinery was not geared up to spend the fund meant for welfare and developmental schemes.
The Congress leader apprehended that funds might be surrendered to the Centre after the end of current financial year.
He said the Prime Minister and Congress leadership would be informed about the failures of the state machinery during the past seven months of its regime.
Mr Singh claimed that the dharna staged at different district headquarters to expose the failures were a big success and alleged that in the so called era of sushanin Bihar, the ministers of Nitish government and senior bureaucrats were indulging in scuffles.
He further alleged that the Nitish government miserably failed in keeping its promise for improving the law and order situation within three months after coming to power, adding that murder and kidnappings continued unabated.
